Terrace woman killed in Highway 37 collision

The Kitimat RCMP are currently investigating a fatal head-on car crash north of Kitimat, which left one Terrace woman dead on Monday afternoon.

RCMP received a call about a motor vehicle accident on Highway 37 about 25 kilometers north of Kitimat at around 4:07 p.m. on Monday, Jun. 29.

Investigators determined that a northbound Toyota 4Runner collided head on with a southbound Honda Ridgeline.

Both drivers in both cars were seriously injured and transported to the hospital.

A woman from Terrace, who was a passenger in the Honda Ridgeline, was declared dead at the scene.

This accident caused the temporary closure of Highway 37 near the Kitimat River Bridge. The road was reopened on Tuesday.

“The investigation is in its infancy, and causal factors are not yet known,” said Staff Sergeant Graham Morgan of the Kitimat RCMP. “We are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the driving behaviour leading up to the collision, as well as anyone with information or video footage of the incident itself.”

People with any information on the accident, including dash cam or CCTV videos, are encouraged to contact the Kitimat RCMP at 250-632-7111.
