The City of Terrace is offering micro-grants of up to $5,000 to help residents and community organizations celebrate the municipality’s 100th anniversary in 2027.
The grants will range from $200 to $5,000 and support events, activities, performances, exhibits, workshops, installations and other creative projects that highlight the stories of Terrace and the people who call it home.
The centennial celebrations will follow the theme “Storytelling: Our Stories Continue—Together,” with residents, artists and community organizations encouraged to submit ideas.
All eligible projects must be free, open to the public and take place in the Terrace area in 2027.
“We would love to see projects that celebrate our history, culture, diversity, Indigenous and settler stories, neighbourhoods, businesses, families, youth, newcomers, or our relationship with the land and river,” said Meredith Skimson, the City’s 100-Year Vision Specialist.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year by Skimson and the Centennial Advisory Committee, which includes community volunteers, City staff and councillors.
The City says applicants are encouraged to apply early, as an online calendar promoting scheduled centennial events is expected to launch toward the end of 2026.
The micro-grant program is one of several initiatives planned for the centennial, alongside a proposed Centennial plaza project and a weekly storytelling series.
The initiatives aim to recognize Terrace’s history, celebrate its current community and look ahead to the municipality’s next chapter.
