Eby Street construction brings temporary staircase closures

Construction on Eby Street in Terrace is underway as part of a storm pipe renewal project that will temporarily restrict access to the Eby Street staircase over the next few weeks.

Work on a 40-year-old stormwater main near the Eby Street Staircase and Trails began today and will continue up to Nov. 15, with periodic closures of the staircase. Pedestrians and residents are kindly asked to follow all the signage in the area to ensure safety and accessibility while crews are working.

This project is Phase 2 of the Eby Street Staircase and Trails project, which includes upgrading the stormwater management system in the community. The City of Terrace said the upgrades hope to enhance drainage efficiency and reduce environmental impacts on nearby waterways.

The city thanks residents for their patience during the construction work and encourages everyone to stay alert and respect the safety barriers in place.
