District of Kitimat proposes road closure for portion of Wakashan Avenue

The District of Kitimat is proposing to permanently close and remove the road dedication from a small, unused portion of the boulevard on the east side of Wakashan Avenue, near Mountainview Square.

If approved, the land would be integrated with a nearby municipal property in Mountainview Square for future community use.

Section 40 of the Community Charter requires municipalities to provide public notice before closing or removing a road dedication. The District is calling on affected residents to come forward with their comments or concerns to council.

A public hearing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., during which the council will consider the proposal and receive public feedback.

Residents can participate in person or online. Those who submit written comments before 12 p.m. on Oct. 20, will be included in the council agenda.

Additional feedback may also be provided during the public input portion of the meeting.
