Highway 16 reopens after rockslide west of Terrace

Highway 16 has fully reopened to traffic after a rockslide struck just west of Terrace on Tuesday morning.

The slide was first reported around 7:30 a.m. in East Amsbury, about 10 kilometers west of the city. Rocks and debris covered the westbound lane, prompting an initial full closure between Terrace and Prince Rupert.

Crews were able to quickly clear the route and reopen it to single-lane, alternating traffic before DriveBC confirmed on X that all lanes were open later in the morning.

There were no reported injuries, but motorists were advised to expect minor delays while cleanup was underway.
