A long-problematic property on the 3200 block of Munroe Street has been cleared and secured after authorities deemed it a serious safety hazard.
The Terrace RCMP, Terrace Fire Department, City of Terrace Building Inspector, and Bylaw officers carried out a joint operation on Sept. 9 to evacuate residents and shut down the site. Utilities were disconnected, fire hazards removed, and the buildings boarded up to prevent further entry.
The property has been on the city’s radar for months, drawing complaints from neighbours over safety, noise, criminal activity, and unsightly conditions.
Fire Chief Trent Bossence issued a formal Order for Immediate Action after inspectors found critical and escalating fire and life safety risks. On May 29, inspectors gave the residents 30 days to fix serious issues on the property. Instead, conditions continued to decline, and by September, it was deemed unsafe and required immediate action.
The RCMP are now asking the public to report any unauthorized activity at the site by calling 250-638-7400.
