Terrace seniors centre targeted by email and text scam

Terrace RCMP are warning about a scam that has targeted the Happy Gang Centre for Seniors.

On Tuesday, August 19, police were told that the centre’s email account had been hacked. Since then, members have been receiving emails and text messages from someone pretending to be the organization’s president. The messages asked people to purchase gift cards and then send the card information.

The Happy Gang Centre said those messages did not come from them. They stress that they would never contact members with a request like this.

RCMP are reminding people that if you receive one of these emails or texts, do not reply. Delete the message right away and do not provide any personal or financial information.
