Category three fire ban ends Saturday

The Northwest Fire Centre is lifting its category three fire ban at noon on Saturday.

It includes fires larger than two metres in height and three metres in width, and three or more fires up to that threshold.

The fire centre added anyone wishing to light a category three blaze has to obtain a burn registration number ahead of time, which is not required for category two blazes or smaller.

It said anyone having an open fire must check local venting conditions and understand what smoke sensitivity zone the blaze is occurring in.

Open burning violations can be reported through the RAPP line at 1-877-952-7277.

It is the last fire ban in effect for the centre.
