Terrace RCMP responded to about 243 calls for service between Aug. 17 and 23.
Police dealt with many incidents during the week, including a break-and-enter, a phone scam, traffic offences and several calls during the annual carnival.
On Aug. 17, police reported a case of a break-and-enter at an apartment on Lazelle Avenue. After investigations, police found out that a man entered the apartment at about 6:30 PM and left soon after with several items.
The man was identified and arrested. He remains in custody and has been charged with breaking-and-entering a dwelling house and theft of property.
On Aug. 18, a police officer witnessed a youth driving an electric dirt bike on Eby Street pulling another youth riding a bicycle using his hand.
Police warned the youth that he was operating the electric dirt bike illegally on the streets of the city without the proper license and equipment.
The same day, police received a report of a phone scam involving someone pretending to be from Telus.
The hacker managed to hack into the computer of the victim and steal $1,000 from her bank account. The bank dealt with the matter.
RCMP is reminding residents to be careful with unexpected phone calls, text messages, emails, and other social media contacts. Police said scammers can pretend to be from trusted organizations and may use threats or urgent requests to obtain personal and financial data.
Police are advising residents not to click suspicious links and verify all the information before responding.
The annual carnival also led to several calls for service between Aug. 21 and 23.
Police arrested one woman for public intoxication and placed her in cells. They also received complaints about harassment coming from the carnival.
A second individual was discovered in an apparent state of intoxication by drugs. Due to concerns for his health and safety, EHS took him to hospital.
Police also stopped an impaired driver who was in care and control of a vehicle in a parking lot. The driver provided a breath sample which revealed that he had consumed alcohol. A driving prohibition was immediately issued and the car was then towed.
On Aug. 22, a BC Highway Patrol officer noticed two speeding vehicles around Munroe Street.
Using radar, he recorded one vehicle traveling at 133 km/h, while the other was traveling at 96 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
Both drivers were charged with speeding, and their cars were impounded for seven days.
