Significant organized crime investigation nets major seizure of drugs, cash and more for CFSEU-BC

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) has concluded a organized crime investigation, resulting in the seizure of significant amounts of illicit drugs, firearms, cash and more.

According to police, this investigation began in December 2024, and continued into early 2026. Investigators seized multiple kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine while gathering evidence related to alleged interprovincial drug trafficking activities.

By late April, investigators identified five locations for coordinated enforcement action and obtained judicial authorization to execute search warrants.

Police say a commercial truck driver was arrested at the Sunshine Hills Shopping Plaza in Delta on May 3, 2026, during what investigators believe was a drug-related exchange involving another individual from Vancouver.

During the arrest, police seized ten one-kilogram bricks of cocaine, as well as roughly half a million dollars in vacuum-sealed cash.

Police say the arrest triggered the execution of multiple search warrants at locations throughout Metro Vancouver, including residences in Vancouver and Surrey, a luxury condo in downtown Vancouver, and a Vancouver self-storage facility.

Preliminary seizures from the investigation includes:

  • Approximately $1.5 million in bundled cash;
  • Approximately 26 kilograms of cocaine;
  • Approximately 7 kilograms of methamphetamine;
  • Five vehicles; including three equipped with after-market hidden compartments;
  • A commercial tractor trailer used in the offence;
  • Approximately 250 kilograms of cocaine cutting agents, including phenacetin and benzocaine;
  • Approximately 12 long guns and four handguns, including one fitted with a prohibited suppressor; and
  • An estimated 150 empty kilogram cocaine wrappers.

“Today’s seizure represents a significant blow to organized crime operating in British Columbia,” said Superintendent Ryan Element. “Some of the drugs seized in this investigation were destined for northern communities, and were actively being trafficked throughout the region. By removing these drugs, firearms and proceeds of crime from circulation, we are directly reducing the harm caused by organized crime in our communities.”

CFSEU-BC Media Relations Officer Sgt. Sarbjit Sangha said the seizures are significant not just because of the quantity, but because it shows the sophistication of organized crime active in British Columbia.

“The drugs seized in this investigation represents thousands and thousands of doses that will not reach our community,” she said. “The firearms seized pose a direct threat to public safety, and are consistent with the violence and intimidation often associated with organized crime groups. The hidden compartments and large quantities of cash further demonstrate the organized and sophisticated methods used to transport, conceal, and profit from illicit drug trafficking.”

CFSEU-BC collaborated with a number of partners throughout the investigation, including the Vancouver Police Department, the RCMP’s South East District Team and police agencies throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

“This investigation is also a strong example of what can be accomplished through collaboration,” Element said. “Organized crime does not respect jurisdictional boundaries, and neither can law enforcement. Through the continued partnership between CFSEU-BC and our police partners, we’re collectively targeting those responsible for trafficking drugs, violence and illegal firearms into our communities.”

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and charges are anticipated.
