Terrace Bowling Centre damaged in early morning fire

One of the most beloved landmarks in Terrace was badly damaged after a serious fire erupted at the Terrace Bowling Centre early Thursday morning.

Terrace Fire Department crews were called to the structure fire at approximately 4:29 a.m. on May 21.

Emergency crews responded to the fire, where large flames and heavy smoke could be seen coming from the building.

Thornhill Fire Department crews assisted terrace firefighters in bringing the blaze under control.

Much of the structure appeared to have been destroyed by the fire.

Firefighters were still at the scene Thursday morning.

The cause of the fire remains under joint investigation by Terrace RCMP and Terrace Fire Chief Joel Brousson.

“This was a very challenging fire that required a coordinated response from multiple agencies. I want to sincerely thank all responding RCMP members, EHS personnel, and fire crews for their professionalism, dedication, and hard work throughout the incident,” Brousson said in a statement.

Further information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
